The REFINERII Powder Room features a custom designed steel pedestal sink, unique mosaic floor, steel accessories, and a sparkling plaster wall finish.  Everything in the room was custom designed and fabricated (except the toilet!) specifically for the Showcase Home; making the entire room a hand-made work of art... The design concept is based on sustainable and "green" building principals; all of the steel in the room came from a local salvage yard, the floor is made of left-over & broken tiles, and the walls are finished with a low VOC plaster.

The sink is a sculptural steel pedestal, made from salvaged sheet metal, and finished with a rich rust patina.  The basin and sink top are covered with a sparkling red glass mosaic; using both red mirrored glass and accents of a red iridescent glass for a truly unique look and feel.  And the basin of the sink has a "secret" drain....(must see in person)

Even the lighting in the room was hand-fabricated.  A set of sconces add a warm glow to the mirror & sink area; they are made out of salvaged steel & red iridescent glass.  The overhead light is a set of miniature spotlights wrapped in steel; the fixture was designed to highlight specific areas of the room and add a bit of extra sparkle to the red glass.

The room also features a custom steel art-piece on one wall; adding a touch of Amber's signature industrial style to the space.  Three sheets of steel hand freely from large bolts; each piece using a unique design element: chain, ball bearings, steel screen, and more are all incorporated into the design.  The entire piece is finished with a rich rust patina to blend seamlessly into the color palette of the room.

The floor of the powder room is a free-form mosaic; making good use of broken and left-over tiles.  The design uses five different colors of ceramic tile  in a swirling, curving pattern, along with accents of red mirrored glass to match the sink top.

All the walls & ceiling in the room were finished with a sparkling plaster; starting at the floor with a dark brown, and then fading through shades of gold up to the ceiling.  The finished look is both subtle & bold; they are walls that have a hint of sparkle and need to be touched to fully appreciate...

Special thanks to Mark Jorgensen, of Jorgensen Construction for all your help during "crunch" time!!  We very much enjoyed meeting you & working with you!!
